Lael Warden
Coach Warden coaches Volleyball and Girls Basketball at Irma Marsh Middle School.
Coach Warden’s high school experience was shaped by both athletics and frequent moves, as her dad served in the Army, she attended three different high schools before graduating from Dreher High School in Columbia, SC. Coach Warden ran cross country and track throughout high school, developing resilience and determination, and also played recreational basketball after competing on her middle school team. Sports were a constant through all the changes, helping her stay connected and grounded. That love for staying active continued into college, where she participated in intramural sports including softball, volleyball, basketball, and tennis. These experiences not only kept her physically active but also helped her build friendships and stay involved on campus.
Coach Warden graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and later earned a Master’s in Education in School Counseling along with a certificate in Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. She began her career teaching PE and Health and spent her first 10 years coaching at Highland Middle School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. In 2016, Coach Warden joined Castleberry ISD, where she coached for four years at IMMS and served as the girls' coordinator. She then transitioned into a school counselor role at Castleberry Elementary, where she served for five years before returning to coaching this year at IMMS. Over the years, Coach Warden has coached track & field, volleyball, basketball, and cross country, continuing her passion for mentoring students both on and off the field.
Family keeps coach Warden grounded and smiling thanks to her daughter, Addisyn and son, Dawson. Her family is huge South Carolina Gamecocks fans and love attending or watching any sport where they compete. When they’re not cheering on the Gamecocks, they enjoy traveling, getting creative with crafts, and playing card games together. Those simple moments make family time extra special
Coach Warden’s coaching philosophy
centers on teaching students’ discipline, strong fundamentals, and how to find success
both on and off the court. She loves working with middle school students
because of the incredible growth they show from the start of the season to the
end—and even more so as they continue on through school. Building meaningful
relationships is at the heart of her approach, so students have a consistent,
positive female role model to support them through life’s challenges and
victories.
